First Look: Althea Petal Velvet Powder

8/01/2017

Searching for that perfect loose powder to keep your make-up matte and looking fresh all day can be quite a struggle, and trying different brands can be a bit tiring. That's why, I am very excited and pleased to announce Althea Korea's first ever exclusive product, the Petal Velvet Powder. With Althea Korea being my go-to Korean beauty and skin care web commerce platform, I was extra happy when I've learned that they are starting their very own product line, starting from this translucent/loose powder.

I am very lucky enough to be sent a media kit by their team and be able to try their product before its official launch, which is today. The parcel arrived yesterday and tried the product earlier this morning before going to work, in order to test its claims. To be honest, I immediately fell in love with its scent right after opening the box.

Because my skin type is combination, it's a bit tricky to settle for a specific product. Why? Because we should take into consideration the consistency and formula of the powder to not be too matte when applied on the skin. I have always used the Innisfree No-Sebum Mineral powder, and I have to admit that it has become my holy grail translucent powder. Getting the Althea Petal Velvet Powder made me decided to compare both products.

The powder is made from natural ingredients including Althea flower seed extracts. Since the powder is finely milled, you don't have to worry about it clumping or getting a white cast.

What I love about the Petal Velvet Powder is that it makes the skin feel soft and silk upon application, and just like what it claims, it blurs out the pores. For sebum control, I think it lasted me about 6 hours maximum before complet, considering the hot and humid weather we are currently in before completely melting. It helped me looked fresh and kept my under eye concealer in place. With regards to its smell, the powder smelled like a reminiscent of the 1950s.

It also has a bit of shimmer when applied onto the skin but not that noticeable

The translucent powder came with a fluffy puff that felt nice to the touch. Since I'm a sucker for clean and soft puffs, I didn't use this one today. Instead, I used my trusty powder brush that I got from Daiso to spread the product across my entire face.

Over-all thoughts:

I'm in love with this at first swipe! It makes my skin feel very smooth, and leaves of a satin-like finish while still controlling the production of sebum! Suggested retail price-wise, I think this powder is worth it, as well. I am also convinced that this can be a great rival to Innisfree No-Sebum Mineral powder since it's performance into keeping my face matte (without making me look like a zombie), as well as my concealer in place, is absolutely amazing.

Get this Althea Petal Velvet Powder today from Althea Korea for only P210!
